You can apply for as many jobs as you qualify for.

3. Can I send my résumé instead of the Prince George's County Government employment application to the Office of Human Resources Management for consideration?
No. We accept only Prince George's County Government employment application forms. Your résumé may be included with your County application form, but cannot substitute for the application form.

4. Can I send my application to the Office of Human Resources Management to be kept on file?
We DO NOT hold applications on file. DO NOT submit a County application form for a position that is not currently shown as an open recruitment.

5. Should I attach my résumé and supporting documentation to the County application form?
YES. The minimum qualifications listed in the Opportunity Announcement describe the knowledge, skills and abilities required for the position. A candidate who provides sufficient information to address the minimum qualifications stands a better chance of clearly and convincingly demonstrating his/her qualifications for the position.

6. Do I have to limit my résumé to one page?
No. It is preferable that you make your résumé as concise as possible; however, we encourage you to describe your previous duties fully to show that you meet the minimum qualifications. A complete résumé is welcome.

7. Are volunteer activities considered when rating applications?
Pertinent volunteer experience with civic, welfare, or service organizations may be credited. You must clearly describe duties performed that are applicable to the type of position applied for. Additionally, you must show the actual amount of time spent in such work, specifically the average hours per week or month. One full year of experience is considered to be 2,080 hours.

8. Are internship positions considered when rating applications?
Work experience obtained through internships may be credited. Please note that when internship/fellowship positions are part of a degree program requirement, no additional credit is awarded.

9. Can I add additional information to my application after the closing date?
NO. Changes can only be made to your application prior to the closing date.

10. How are equivalencies for education and experience applied?
One year of relevant experience may be substituted for each year of required education in the same way that one year of relevant education, at the undergraduate level, may be substituted for one year of required experience.

11. Do you accept applications for positions in Prince George’s County Public Schools, WSSC, Prince George’s Community College, Bowie State University and Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission (MNCPPC)?
NO, all of these agencies have their own Human Resources offices.

12. If I am on the Eligibility Register, will I get an interview?
Each appointing authority is required to interview only a percentage of the total number of eligible applicants on the eligibility register; therefore, a personal interview with each eligible applicant is not guaranteed.

13. If I am on an Eligibility Register that lasts for six months, should I apply for a position with the same title at another agency before my current eligibility expires? Yes, a separate application form should be submitted for each advertised position.

14. Thirty days have passed since I received my notice of eligibility. Am I still being considered for the position?

Possibly, depending on whether or not interviews have been held. To inquire about the status of your application relative to the interview process, contact the agency to which your name was referred.

15. Will I be notified once the position is filled?
Only interviewed candidates are notified once the position has been filled.

16. I received a Notice to Non-Competitive Candidate. What does this mean?
A non-competitive notice is sent when there are less than10 qualified competitive applicants for the position. In such instances, the Office of Human Resources Management establishes a non-competitive list of applicants.

Applications for qualified candidates are referred to the appointing authority (i.e., agency director) for consideration. The appointing authority has the option of selecting a candidate from the list or reannouncing the position. If the position is reannounced, you may have to reapply under the new announcement number in order to still be considered for the position.

17. You list a salary range on the Opportunity Announcement. What is the maximum salary that I can get upon entering the system?
The beginning salary is usually negotiable, but it cannot exceed the maximum salary listed.

18. Once hired, when will my benefits begin?
The effective date of the health benefits coverage is the beginning of the month following a 45-day waiting period from the date of hire.
