It is our goal to web-enable every business function in our County. The days of standing in line are numbered.
Mission Statement
The Office of Information Technology and Communications is dedicated to aligning technology efforts to support the business goals of the County. OITC will provide leadership, expertise, and resources in the development and deployment of innovative technologies to improve government efficiency and citizen access to government information and services.
The Office of Information Technology & Communications (OITC) was
officially designated as an agency on February 27, 2001 to
provide increased visibility to the strategic direction of the County's
technology and
communications plans. The agency's mission is to maintain
an effective and efficient information communication system in the County.
OITC is a centralized support agency with responsibilities for diverse
missions, threaded with the goal of providing excellent service. This
includes the administration and management of County's data processing
systems, voice & data telecommunications networks and geographic
information system.
OITC monitors the facilities management contract under which the
County's data processing services are provided. The agency helps to
ensure economical and proper utilization of County resources by
overseeing the facilities management contractor's work with County
agencies and by coordinating the contractor's plans and commitments
with the overall needs and objectives of County management.
Additionally, OITC oversees The Cable Television Commission and Computer Services Internal Service Fund. The Cable Television Commission enforces the County's franchise with Comcast Cable Communications and Verizon.
The Computer Services Internal Service Fund accounts for the agencies'
use of office automation equipment and services. The Fund's costs are
allocated based on agency network computer use and include
depreciation, maintenance and operating costs. |
